Geography: Bihar is located in the eastern part of India. It falls mid-way between West Bengal in the east and Uttar Pradesh in the west. It is surrounded by Nepal in the north and by Jharkhand in the south. The plains are divided into two unequal halves by the Holy River Ganga flows through the middle from west to east.

Bihar is mainly a vast stretch of very fertile flat land. It has river galore namely Ganga, Bagmati, Budhi Gandak, Sonand, Falgu and Kosi. Central parts have some small hills (e.g. Rajgir hills).

The Himalayan Mountains are placed towards the north of Bihar, in Nepal. To the south is the Chota Nagpur plateau, was part of Bihar until Year 2000.
